Its origin is SRI LANKA .

The pedestal is marble made,weight 1,3 kg, and size 18 cm high.
This is the Buddha of the Therevada culture, and there are only few similar pieces in the entire world.Those pieces were sold to the auctions with enormous high prices.

As mentioned in the first part of the listing, the statue belonged to THEREVADA culture.Therevada,the "Doctrine of the ELDERS" is the oldest of Buddhism school who survived and remained until today.Therevada comes from the texts:Vibhajjavada "the Doctrine of Analysis" who has its origins from the ancient "Doctrine of the Elders"(Sthavira), from the ancient time of the Third Buddhism Council ,250 B.C. , when the Indian Emperor Anoka ruled.

The Vibhajjavadani discipols considered theirselves the orthodox continuators of Sthavira,and after this Third Council they continued to call theirselves as Sthaviras/Theras. Their doctrin was similar to the ancient Sthaviram but not quite exactly same.
In consequence,the geographic distances made Vibhajjavadani were detached in four major groups : MAHISASAKA,KASYAPIYA,DHARMAGUPTA and TAMRAPARNIYA.
Therevada comes from Tamraparniya,which means "SRI-LANKA LINE". Some sources pretent that only Therevada developed as a continuity of Vibhajjavadani.
According to the Sinhaleze tradition ,Buddhims was introduced and integrated in SRI LANKA by MAHIDNA, the son of the EMPEROR ASOKA, in 3th century B.C., as part of missionary activities of ASOKA ANCIENT ERA.

He built in SRI LANKA the MAHAVIHARA MONASTERY in ANURADHAPURA. Later, the Monastery was divided in 3 Monarchic centers:MAHAVIHARA, ABHAYAGIRIVIHARA and JETAVANAVIHARA.
