Pacific fleet and took the lives of 2,343 servicemen. This film is a
heavily partisaned look at the day’s events. Since few cameras were
actually present during the surprise attack, director and Lt. Cmdr. John
Ford skillfully blended the real action with studio shots, creating a
heightened realism

at sea and the tracking down of the remaining Japanese fleet

In an objective, unsentimental
manner this film documents the Army’s wartime efforts in 1943. Detailed
are scenes of Patton’s Seventh Army as it marches through Sicily and
then up the spine of Italy under General Mark Clark, where it encounters
stiff resistance by German troops. Also highlighted is the collapse of
Mussolini, and events in the Pacific theater
