7 inch tall glass is in excellent condition with mint graphics
Back of the glass lists the previous Jim Beam Stakes winners from when the race was first run in 1972
The name of this race has changed over the years but it has always been looked at as a testing ground for the Kentucky Derby. It was launched in 1972 as the Spiral Stakes for 3 year olds âspiraling upâ to the Kentucky Derby. In 1982 bourbon maker Jim Beam started sponsoring the race, changing its name to the Jim Beam Spiral Stakes and in 1984 the name Spiral was dropped when the race achieved its Grade III status. In 1988 the race was upgraded to a Grade II with a purse of $500,000. In 2002 the race became known as the Laneâs End Stakes with new sponsorship of the Laneâs End Stables
The 1989 Jim Beam Stakes Winner was Western Playboy and the jockey was Pat Day with a winning time of 1:49
