5 1/4 inch tall glass is in excellent condition with mint graphics on a frosted background
Back of the glass lists the previous 114 Kentucky Derby Winners and the years with special markings for the fillies and the Triple Crown Winners
The 1984 Kentucky Derby Winner was Sunday Silence and the jockey was Pat Valenzuela in a time of 2:05.
1989 was the year of the infamous duo Sunday Silence and Easy Goer, their season long face offs dominated the racing year as Affirmed and Alydar did back in 1978.
Sunday Silence was a sickly foal that nearly died of an illness when he was a weanling. On two occasions the farm tried to sell him and both times he came back unsold.
In his famous duals with Easy Goer, Sunday Silence captured the Kentucky Derby by two and a half lengths and went on to win the Preakness by a nose with his nemesis Easy Goer stealing the Triple Crown Championship from him by winning the Belmont by eight lengths
The showdown at the Breeders Cup Classic that fall with neither of the horses had finished out of the first two. Sunday Silence won the Classic by a neck and went on to Horse of the Year Honors
At age 4 he suffered an injury which led to his retirement. Out of 14 career races, he never finished worse than second. He won nine of his races and placed second in five
He was sold to a Japanese breeder and became a leading sire in the last decade of his life
In August 2002, suffering from laminitis, Sunday Silence died of a heart attack and is buried at Shadai Stallion Station
