Here is a paperback book called
"The Covered Bridge", by Herbert Wheaton Congdon. There are 100
photographs of Vermont covered bridges by Edmund Homer Royce. The
covered bridge is an old American landmark whose romance, stability, and
craftsmanship are typified by the structures that remain in Vermont.
Published by Vermont Books in Middlebury, VT.
This is a 1975 reprint of the
original book that was published in 1941. There is a lot of history about the
bridges in the book, along with all the photos. Some of these bridges
are no longer standing, due to the recent Hurricane Irene flooding here in Vermont.
The book has 151 pages,
including an index. There is barely any wear to it. No writing in it, no
bumped corners, no creased cover. Almost like new, but there are a few
very small stains on the page edge on the first few pages. There is
light toning to the edges of the pages, too.
If you are planning on taking
a vacation to Vermont, this would be a
good book to bring with you so you could tour the bridges.
