This is a Century Collection of America’s 100 greatest movies named by the American Film Institute at the century mark. The list was and still is designated 100 movies, 100 years and was the first AFI top 100 list (1998).
Offered for sale as a limited edition set, this one 1601 of 2500, are 100 movies in VHS format. There are four boxes, each containing 25 movie titles. The set has nice, matching labeled clamshells for each video as well as ten spare, empty clamshells. All the titles which require more than one video have the accompanying cardboard covers folded flat and placed in the bottom of the appropriate box. All clamshells have the same color scheme with gold trim and dark maroon interior design. The spine has AFI, the film name, Part I or II if necessary, and the Blockbuster logo at the base. On the clamshell front is “American Film Institute AFI Century Collection America’s 100 Greatest Movies , then the name of the film, part #, & Blockbuster logo. The back has the same basic info but under the film’s name is the studio, year released and down the left side “Movie Facts†where there are several sentences describing the film & it’s making. Underneath are listed the Principal Cast, Director, Producer, & Screenwriters.
While this is a used set, all titles are present and in good viewing order. There are 57 videos which are new and sealed with shrink wrap and all but 14 of the remaining titles have the cardboard covers inside the clamshell. Also, please note that the large, exterior boxes are in good but used condition with one corner split that I have repaired with clear tape. But in the picture which features the movie titles on the box end, the lightness on the one box is due to the camera flash, not any fading or such. Also, the boxes were stacked horizontally, but I turned the picture so that the titles could be seen more easily. Sorry for any confusion but those boxes are heavy! Each box of 25 has the name and order of preference given by the American Film Institute as well as the year that the film debuted on the box end.
